The LANDSSCAPE project is designed to explore and implement cutting-edge solutions that harness space data for better environmental management. Our project strategy is centered around four key pillars:
- Understanding Carbon Dynamics: By deepening our understanding of the relationship between carbon net removals and biogenic emissions, we can improve strategies for reducing emissions and increasing carbon sequestration.
- Evaluating LULUCF Scenarios: The project models the impacts of different land use scenarios and landscape measures, considering their effects on climate change mitigation, food production, and biodiversity. Special attention is given to areas with natural constraints, such as mountainous or drought-prone regions.
- Advancing Data Collection Technologies: We aim to upgrade remote sensing and in-situ data collection tools to better monitor agricultural and forestry landscapes. Enhanced data accuracy will enable more precise climate and biodiversity assessments.
- Measuring Effectiveness: Through the evaluation of ecosystem services, we assess the financial and functional impacts of various adaptation measures, ensuring that decision-makers can choose the most effective and sustainable solutions.
